Welcome to Barcombe

2 minute read.

Many people list Barcombe as a very desirable village to live in, being four miles outside Lewes, the county town of East Sussex.

This village is low on traffic with an attractive centre of period cottages with modern developments and yet retaining that village feel with a thriving community of clubs and advantages. There is a village pub in the centre, opposite which is the sports ground with tennis, cricket, football and bowls and a fine pavilion. There is a very popular village primary school and village hall, being the fulcrum of country life.

There are spurs of elegant country homes from the centre, including Spithurst Road, joining the other excellent village pub, The Anchor, on the boating stream beyond north to Barcombe Mills. Country surrounds Barcombe, of course, and yet Cooksbridge railway station is only two miles, connecting to London and making commuting an easy choice.

The hamlets of Littleworth, Spithurst and villages of Newick, Chailey (North and South) are all close-by, opening up Mid Sussex to the buyer.
