Plumpton with a strong village community feel and the added bonus of its own railway station. Renowned for its famous country racecourse, there are regular meetings and yet it remains affordable for locals and commuters alike.
The village boasts three public houses, a fine sports ground with a cricket club, football, archery, stoolball and tennis, with the nearby rugby club. There is a nursery at the pavilion with an excellent primary school and the fulcrum is a superb local shop and village hall. There are also numerous village activities including the legendary pantomime in January – superb fun for all the family. With so many activities for young and old alike, the village is developing further and yet is in view of the South Downs. The outskirts of Brighton are only 5 miles to Lewes. Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill, connect to East Chiltington, Chailey, Street, Ditchling and Wivelsfield Green. Beyond East Chiltington is Cooksbridge and Offham leading to Lewes, the county town of East Sussex.
